The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University, responsible for leading the development and operation of high quality academic study throughout the university and for continuously improving and reshaping the academic face of the university to meet present and future needs. All of UWG's colleges and schools report to the Provost through their Deans and Directors.
The Provost's office provides support services to colleges, faculty members, and students, including the university’s technology systems, learning resources, testing and other learning support services, faculty development opportunities, research grants and sponsored operations, certain aspects of enrollment management, and collaboration on a number of initiatives to improve student success.
In addition to managing the budget, the Provost must review and approve all faculty personnel actions and all proposed curriculum changes. Positions reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs are the Deputy Provost; Associate Vice President for Academic Affaris; Associate Vice President for Research and Sponsored Projects; Deans of the Colleges, School of Nursing, and Ingram Library; and Executive Director of Extended Learning and Dean of USG eCore.
The office also serves as the hub of the university's assessment and quality improvement efforts, and therefore serves as the point of contact for external constituents on issues related to academic affairs, such as the Board of Regents, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and other accrediting bodies.
