      • Is only available to spouses or partners who have lived in or around Carrollton for less than twelve months.
    • Am I guaranteed employment?

Although the program does not guarantee employment or create job openings, we will assist you in your job search. Dual Career clients are supported in their job search and work closely with the program coordinator to identify job opportunities, update their job seeking skills and obtain networking information.

    • Will I be given preferential treatment for University of West Georgia positions?

The Dual Career Program does not compromise the normal hiring or search process, but we can provide a letter of support to a hiring supervisor to identify you as a Dual Career Client for university positions.

    • Can you help me find employment outside the University of West Georgia?

Yes! The Dual Career Program maintains a network of business contacts in the community and surrounding area to assist you in your job search.

    • Can the Dual Career status of a candidate be discussed by the search committee?

It should not be. Dual Career status should not play a role in the discussion of the merit and suitability of a candidate.

    • When is the best time to encourage a candidate to raise a Dual Career concern?

It is illegal and inappropriate at any time to ask candidates any direct questions about their partner situation. However, it is very important to provide all candidates with information about the Dual Career Opportunities Program very early in the process— ideally before they even visit.

    • Will Dual Career candidates be considered for temporary positions?

Yes. Dual Career candidates may be considered for the Temporary Worker Pool that was recently developed by the Barriers Team.

    • Can a Dual Career candidate use a DCOP team member as a reference?

Unfortunately, the DCOP team does not provide references for clients. References given to potential employers should be from those who can speak with a great degree of knowledge about the candidate’s past performance, accomplishments, and contributions. We can provide a letter of support to a hiring supervisor to identify you as a Dual Career Client for university positions.
