The University of West Georgia’s larger-than-life mascot, Wolfie, has teamed up with some of his closest colleagues to share his origin story with UWG’s youngest fans.
Georgia Highlands College announced today the forthcoming closure of its Douglasville site, with the University of West Georgia committing to provide support to ensure student success in Douglas County.
If there was one word John Stenger would use to describe his late stepfather, the beloved UWG art professor Henry Setter, it would be “treasured.” Stenger recently reinforced that Setter’s legacy will live on thanks to his gift to the Henry Setter Memorial Scholarship.
The bowl will be on display during Richards Hall’s grand opening later this month, when UWG will officially cut the ribbon on the new building on Friday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m.

Kimberly Scranage, a higher education leader with nearly 25 years of experience, has been named the University of West Georgia’s inaugural vice president for strategic enrollment management, effective Nov. 1.
When Honey Shackelford ’76 arrived in the United States as a child, she spoke fluent Spanish but couldn’t speak a word of English. By the time she graduated from UWG, she spoke both languages fluently and had a bachelor’s degree in Spanish.
