AI Champions will drive AI adoption within their departments and teams with tailored information and training mechanisms. This will be the most effective way for teams to emabrace AI in a way that resonates with the team members and help users feel comfortable with the product and more likely to adopt it in their day-to-day activities.

About Champions

The University of West Georgia is developing a Champions program to help the UWG develop a mindset of "How can I use AI?" rather than "Should I use AI? Champions will be used to eliminate layers of learning and will be a convenient and knowledgable source for AI questions and training.

AI Champion Responsibilities

  • Complete the initial training.
  • Facilitate the use and embracement of AI within your team.
  • Conduct training sessions with your team or individuals.
  • Research UWG business, teaching and learning scenarios where AI can be helpful and document these use cases.
  • Attend recurring learning opportunities and workshops.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation to encourage AI adoption.
  • Develop effective prompts to guide users in receiving the optimal output.
  • Ensure that ethical and responsible AI practices are integrated into all AI projects.
  • Gather, document, and share user feedback about AI's functionality, usability, and effectiveness.

AI Roadmap

The ITS roadmap of future AI includes:

  • Other AI service offerings such as Copilot for Microsoft 365, which integrates with popular Office tools like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and the advanced Microsoft ???.
  • Researching Azure OpenAI Platform, which allows developers to build and train their own custom AI models.
  • An interdisciplinary team which will investigate other tools, explore AI capabilities within existing technology services, strengthen adoption efforts, and build out governance and ethical frameworks for AI at UWG.
  • Laying the groundwork for rolling out generative AI services through a series of small educational workshops in some administrative spaces.
