‘Pass On Blessings’: Women’s Golf Receives Their First Endowed Scholarship from the Law Office of John B. Jackson Share this page
The University of West Georgia’s Women’s Golf Team recently received their first endowed scholarship due to the generosity of the Law Office of John B. Jackson.
Supporting the university is important to the Jackson family. John Jackson has been a hometown attorney in Carrollton for 25 years, and he sees the importance of UWG’s presence in the community and of giving back.
“If I can make somebody else’s life easier because I’ve been blessed, that’s what I want to do. I want to pass on blessings,” Jackson shared. “If you throw a pebble into the water, it’s no big thing, but it ripples and ripples, and that’s what I want to do with this gift that will go on in perpetuity and affect lives forever.”
Living on a golf course, sports – and particularly golf – is a big part of the Jackson household. John has golfed for 25 years, and his wife Mandy, owner of Jernijacks Tween Boutique, is the chair of the 2026 Louise Suggs Invitational Tournament – which the entire family will be either volunteering for or, in the case of their daughter Milly, competing in.
Their twin daughters, Milly and Kate, are both senior athletes for the Carrollton Trojans, with Milly playing golf and Kate playing tennis. When deciding where to focus their philanthropy, UWG’s Women’s Golf team was an easy choice as they have all seen their power and dedication when they practice and compete at Sunset Hills.
“Gifts of this nature are of the upmost significance to the university, to athletics and in this instance to women’s golf, but this means so much more. Through Mr. Jackson’s generosity, many young lady golfers will be impacted,” shared Will Snodgrass, head coach for Women’s Golf. “This is an investment in them and their success, and each recipient will work to honor these gifts as would be expected, with excellence in the classroom, dignity on the golf course, and each will represent UWG with pride. We sincerely appreciate this gift and what it means for the future of our student athletes and Women’s Golf at the University West Georgia!”
The Law Office of John B. Jackson also supports UWG Athletics as a corporate sponsor as the official replay review sponsor for football and basketball, which directly supports the most urgent UWG Athletics funding needs.
“In the modern context of intercollegiate sports, one of the hallmarks of a healthy program is when you have supporters who want to invest their time, talent, and treasure into the foundation of the program,” said Jason Carmichael, director of athletics. “John Jackson’s commitment here to Women’s Golf is remarkable and sets the standard for future investors who also want to see this program further its pursuit of excellence.”
As his daughters prepare to begin their own college journeys at other universities, Jackson has reflected on the importance of the Carrollton community supporting UWG and coming together as a Division I athletics, university town.
“I think it’s imperative that if you are financially benefiting from being part of our community, you should invest back into that same community,” Jackson said. “My kids grew up here; Carrollton supports my business and my family. This is a really giving town, and I would love to see more local businesses find something special at UWG to give back to.”
