Cheyanne Walker

Cheyanne Walker is the Operations Manager for WUTV, the University of West Georgia’s student-run television station, and an Adjunct Journalism Professor at the university. With a strong background in broadcast journalism, she is dedicated to preparing the next generation of media professionals through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world newsroom experience.

Walker’s professional career includes experience as an evening news anchor at CBS 44 in Cordele, Georgia, where she anchored nightly newscasts and covered breaking news. She has also worked as a reporter and producer at FOX 31 WFXL in Albany, Georgia, and gained newsroom experience at ABC 13WHAM in Rochester, New York, where she served as a reporter and fill-in anchor. Through these roles, she developed a strong foundation in anchoring, reporting, producing, and multimedia storytelling, giving her a well-rounded perspective of the media industry.

At UWG, Walker oversees daily station operations, coordinates student volunteers, and leads training initiatives focused on journalism fundamentals, production, and media ethics. She plays a key role in developing student talent by creating experiential learning opportunities that mirror professional newsroom environments.

Walker is passionate about student engagement and is committed to helping students discover their purpose, build confidence, and develop industry-ready skills. Her interests include media literacy, political and election coverage, and the evolving role of journalism in society. She is dedicated to using media as a tool to inform, empower, and uplift communities.
