Anthony Thomason is a psychology instructor and psychoanalytic psychotherapist with more than a decade of clinical and educational experience. His professional work brings together psychology, philosophy, literature, education, and theology, with particular interests in Lacanian psychoanalysis, Thomism, and existential-phenomenology. Topics of inquiry include: apathy, transformative religious experiences, mysticism, metaphysics, philosophical anthropology, suffering, and meaning-making.

He holds Bachelor's degrees in Psychology & Philosophy and English Literature, a Master of Arts in Teaching, a Master of Arts in Psychology, and Specialist degrees in Critical Pedagogy and Cultural Curriculum Studies [EdD, ABD]. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in philosophy and theology. Before entering higher education, he taught English language arts and psychology in K-12.

As an instructor, he encourages students to approach psychology philosophically and as a human science. His courses invite students to examine psychological theories critically, consider their historical and philosophical foundations, and explore how ideas about the mind are shaped by language, culture, relationships, institutions, and personal experience.

Outside of the classroom and the clinic, he lives in west Georgia with his wife and their three children. Together, they maintain a small family homestead with a garden, fruit trees, goats, chickens, ducks, and other farm animals. He enjoys reading, serving at his parish, video games, gardening, cooking, woodworking, and blacksmithing.
