Jordan Williams

Jordan Williams, a native of Oxford, Alabama, joined the Faculty at the University of West Georgia as Trombone Instructor in Fall 2025. While attending Jacksonville State University and the University of North Texas, he enjoyed studying trombone under James Roberts, David Lambert, Tony Baker, Steve Menard, and Natalie Mannix.

Following completion of his Master of Music degree in 2017, Jordan founded S&W Forte Moving Company to create jobs for college music students. This venture led to a temporary transition into consulting and business management that helped refine his educational and performance philosophies before returning to the career around which his passion is focused.

Jordan has taught, assisted, and provided clinics to several middle and high schools in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas, maintained a private studio of as many as 70 students in Dallas, Texas, and been invited to conduct chamber ensembles and musical theater orchestras in Washington D.C., Alabama, and Texas. His compositions have been performed around the country, including an original composition performed at the American Trombone Workshop at Fort Myer, VA in 2015.

Jordan's varied performance experience has included the Guy Lombardo Dance Orchestra, Dallas Jazz Orchestra, 5 O'clock, 6 O'clock, and 9 O'clock Lab Bands, Denton Music Theater, CharACTers of Gadsden, Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, Rocket City Bones, North Texas Symphony Orchestra, Muscle Shoals Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Sul Ponticello, as well as several collegiate ensembles during his graduate and undergraduate studies. While Jordan was a member during the 2013-2014 school year, an album recorded by Jacksonville State University's Jazz Ensemble I was featured by Downbeat Magazine in May 2015 and awarded the Downbeat Student Music Award for Best Album by Large Ensemble.

Jordan currently lives in his hometown of Oxford, Alabama. In addition to teaching at the University of West Georgia, he provides private lessons to students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama, and remains an active member of the International Trombone Association.
