Dr. Diptee is Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of West Georgia in the Dr. James 'Earl' Perry College of Mathematics, Computing, and Sciences. She has interdisciplinary educational and research background. She has a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, master’s degree in biotechnology and PhD in genetics. Over the past decade her research has led to discovery of novel gene in legume rhizobia symbiosis, established gene function, engineered sustained heterologous expression of enzyme that is normally toxic to heterologous bacterial cells.

Her research focuses on understanding how multispecies microbial communities are formed, microbiome engineering applications and development of rapid pathogen detection.
