Accuplacer Testing for Nontraditional Students

Accuplacer testing is currently being offered for non traditional students required to take learning support who would like the opportunity to exempt it. Students who fall into this category will be advised during the course registration process about their options to exempt. Accuplacer in this case is optional. If a student does not meet the minimum Accuplacer score requirement, they will need to take learning support along with the assigned course (MATH 1001/MATH 0997, MATH 1111/MATH 0999,ENGL 1101/ENGL 0999).

Monday, September 27th and Thursday, September 30th

Monday, October 25th and Thursday, October 28th

Monday, November 15th and Thursday, November 18th

All testing sessions are scheduled at 9:00am OR 2:00pm.

 

REGISTRATION FOR ACCUPLACER EXAM

** Please be sure to bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. **

The ACCUPLACER test is a computer based exam consisting of three subject areas: Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics, Reading, and WritePlacer. The Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics and Reading sections are untimed and consist of 20 multiple choice questions each. The WritePlacer section consists of a 60 minute 300 - 600 word, timed essay in which a prompt is provided.

The minimum UWG score requirements for learning support exemption are as follows:

Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics -- 258 or higher
Reading -- 237 or higher
WritePlacer -- 4 or higher

 

 

ACCUPLACER APP is a free web-based study app. It is to your benefit to review/study for the test so that you know what to expect and therefore do your best. Students have provided great feedback to our office after studying for the placement exams before testing.

POST Accuplacer Testing for Employment

Examinees interested in taking the POST Accuplacer exam for employment purposes should first contact our office by calling 678-839-6435 or emailing testwest@westga.edu to schedule an appointment.

ABOUT THE EXAM:

The POST ACCUPLACER is a computer based exam consisting of Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics. The Reading, Arithmetic, and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics sections are untimed and consist of 20 multiple choice questions. The Writing Section is untimed and consists of 15 multiple choice questions.

Parking information: Parking for tests administered in the UWG Testing Office is the Tyus Hall Lot; note the ATM at the edge of the lot and UWG Student Health Services Building. See UWG Campus Map for details, and locate Strozier Hall for the Academic Testing Center location. Please do not forget a valid, government-issued photo ID is required for testing.

COVID Guidelines for Testing

In accordance with the CDC and USG guidelines for COVID19, the instructions below should be followed when arriving at the Testing Center in Strozier Hall:

  1. Effective immediately, fully vaccinated individuals at University System of Georgia (USG) institutions, including the University of West Georgia, can resume campus classes and other activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing themselves from others, in alignment with updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and USG.

    Unvaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to get a vaccine, to continue wearing a face covering, and to continue physically distancing from others when possible.
  2. When entering Strozier Hall, if others are present in the lobby or main office, stay a minimum of 6 feet away from other people in the waiting area. Signage will be available to direct you to an available seat. The Testing Center Staff will greet you in the lobby at the time of your testing appointment. 
  3. If you need assistance, please wait in the lobby if someone is already being helped in the front office until they exit.
  4. Hand sanitizing stations will be available in the lobby, locker room and testing rooms. Please be sure to sanitize your hands upon entrance and exit of the Testing Center and any other entry points. 
  5. Testing check-in will be done individually and the Testing Center staff will provide you with further instructions at the time of your appointment to ensure a safe testing experience for everyone.
  6. If you are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID19, please call the Testing Center to reschedule your test.
