How do I become a Psychology major?
Incoming students in Summer 2020 wishing to major in Psychology must declare before completing 90 hours of academic credit and cannot declare until completing at least 15 hours of academic credit. Students wishing to major in Psychology must have a GPA of at least 2.5 at the time of declaration. To officially declare your major, email the UWG Graduation Team at firstname.lastname@example.org, with your full name and student ID. The request should be updated on your Wolf Watch account within 24-48 hours.
How do I obtain academic advising as a Psychology Major / Minor?
Please note, while the Psychology faculty does not do direct academic advising, students can seek advisement by contacting the Advisement Center.

Are there opportunities for collaborative work with faculty?
Numerous opportunities exist for psychology students to earn credit towards the major and graduation by assisting faculty members in various phases of research including library research, data collection, data entry, and data analyses. Advanced students are encouraged to conduct their own research project under the direction of a psychology faculty member.

The curriculum in the Psychology Department is designed to prepare students for careers, for graduate school, and for lifelong learning.
How do I become a Psychology minor?
Declaring a psychology minor requires a minimum of 16 hours of Psychology courses, at least 12 hours of upper division courses (3000-4000), and one or more of the following classes are required:
- PSYC 3010 (Human Growth and Development)
- PSYC 3150 (Abnormal Psychology)
- PSYC 3730 (Social Psychology)
- PSYC 3800 (Psychology of Mind / Body)
- PSYC 3900 (Personality and Motivation)
- PSYC 4030 (History & Philosophy of Psychology)
- PSYC 1101 is a prerequisite for all upper level courses, but it will not be counted in the 16 hours required for a Psychology Minor.
- PSYC 4884 is for MAJORS only.
Keep in mind that the latest you are able to declare Psychology as your minor is the semester prior to your graduation.
