Again and again employers declare their desire to hire employees with a liberal arts education and some form of experience. For example, in an April 2013 survey conducted by the Association of American Colleges and Universities, 78% of employers interviewed stated that completing an internship or community-based field project would greatly contribute to an individuals success in the workplace.

The English Program supports our students’ efforts to increase their career success after college by providing internships for academic credit. These classes are opportunities for our undergraduate students to apply the skills developed in class towards projects and experiences in a workplace setting. They are also chances for exploration of career and vocational interests; there are a variety of fields students can explore before determining their future career.

We are always seeking out new and varied internship opportunities for our students. Currently we have relationships with regional publications, including newspapers and magazines, as well as the Communications and Marketing unit on the campus of UWG.
