  • Kathy Cashen Recital Hall

    Piano on recital stage of Cashen Hall.Kathy Cashen Recital Hall is an intimate acoustic venue that seats 227 between the main floor and balcony levels. A fully equipped student-operated recording booth is located between the entrances. Recitals and rehearsals involving Music faculty and students are scheduled regularly throughout the year. Cashen Hall has a 9’ Steinway concert grand piano on stage and a 23-rank Reuter pipe organ & console backstage.

    Kathy Cashen Recital Hall is located within the south end of the Humanities Building.

    Parking is available in the gated lot adjacent to Humanities for evening and weekend events located at 202 West Georgia Drive.

    Visitors to Cashen Hall during daytime hours can obtain a temporary pass at the Welcome Center. Find directions on Google Maps or by visiting their page.


    Cashen Hall is first and foremost a recital hall; however, reservations can be made for other departments and outside studios and are subject to approval. Since Cashen houses the only pipe organ on campus, organ instruction and practice occurs here. Please use the link below to learn about usage, reservations, and more.

  • The Townsend Center for the Performing Arts (TCPA)

    Exterior of Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.The Townsend Center for the Performing Arts (TCPA) houses both a 459-seat theatre with proscenium stage and orchestra pit, and the 170-seat “black box” Richard L. Dangle Theatre. The TCPA is home to two Bösendorfer Imperial Grand Pianos and is the preferred venue for Opera and Jazz performances.

  • Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center (CCSPAC)

    View of the seating and stage of the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center.The new Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center (CCSPAC) opened in July 2017 and is the largest and most acoustically calibrated venue in west Georgia. With over 1100 seats, the CCSPAC is the venue of choice for UWG's large concert ensembles.

  • The AMP at Adamson Square

Humanities BuildingExterior of Humanities Building.

The Humanities Building - which houses the Department of Music teaching spaces, faculty studios, practice facilities, and administrative offices, became the home of the fine and performing arts disciplines in 1970. Classes and practice are held in all three floors of the south end of Humanities.

  • Practice Rooms

    Music stand with piano in background.The UWG Music Department offers dedicated practice rooms with Kawai pianos exclusively available to all music majors and minors. Certain practice rooms are equipped with computer workstations where students can access SmartMusic and other programs to aid in their studies. In addition, there is a dedicated practice room equipped with an Allen electric organ.

    Practice rooms are located on the first floor of the Humanities Building to the right of Kathy Cashen Recital Hall. Music students may access them by swiping their student ID at the door.

  • Music Technology Lab

    Computer station with keyboard.This space is equipped with 44 key digital synthesizers and the newest Apple IMac software including Sibelius, Garage Band, Adobe Audition, and others.

    This lab is located in room 141 on the first floor of the Humanities Building. Access is granted to students enrolled in specific music courses and students in a Composition degree program.

  • Band Room

    This is the rehearsal space for the UWG bands, equipped with multimedia technology.

    The Band Room is located in room 331 on the 3rd floor of the Humanities Building.

  • Choir Room

    This tiered rehearsal space is used for the UWG choirs, as well as for lecture based classes such as Music Appreciation. It is equipped with multimedia technology.

    The Choir Room is located in room 301 on the 3rd floor of the Humanities Building.

  • Percussion Studio

    This sound isolated space is used for the rehearsals and lessons of the percussion students and faculty.

    The Percussion Studio is located in room 329 on the 3rd floor of the Humanities Building. 

  • Wenger Faculty Studios

    The music department boasts not one, but two sound proof faculty studios equipped with Wenger Sound-Lok digital acoustic enhancements.

  • Keyboard Lab

    This classroom functions as a 16 seat lab space for group piano instruction. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Humanities Building in room 232. 

  • Music Classrooms

    These classrooms are dedicated to music specific courses and contain upright piano and multimedia technology to aid with instruction.

Bowdon Hall

Located next to the Humanities Building, this dormitory is the prime location for students of music beginning their journey at UWG. Here students can live in community with their fellow classmates only a short distance from their classes and the on-campus dining hall East Commons.

  • Practice Rooms

    Within this dorm, there are practice rooms exclusively for Bowdon residents studying music

  • Computer Lab

    Bowdon also contains a computer lab for those late night homework sessions and paper writing.
