BB Collaborate Launcher - advise users to not update their launcher, if prompted.

iOS 9.0 issue - if you upgrade, the reply option is unusable in D2L mail on mobile devices.

Turnitin Integration and TAs
Those with the role of Teaching Assistant in a course cannot open or view the Turnitin Similarity reports. This also means that they do not have access to GradeMark. The short-term fix is to change their role in the course to Instructor, but only with the instructor's permission and understanding of the changes in access. This is an issue with the new Turnitin integration.

D2L Quiz Item Analysis
D2L does not provide item analysis statistics if the quiz uses D2L's "Random Section" (where within that section of the exam questions are delivered in a random order from within a set number of questions) even if all the same questions are used for all students. In this case, 50/50 questions were delivered in random order to the students; all students received all 50 of the questions, just in a different order. All the item stats: Standard Deviation, Discrimination Index, and Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient returned "n/a" for all responses.

Go to and then click on the "Product Idea Exchange" link that is on the right side of the page.  Then search for D2537. The title of this PIE submission is "Question Stats on Randomized Questions". Vote for it!

  • Pinned discussion threads become unpinned when a student replies to an instructor's post: No Known workaround.
  • Discussions not working as expected: There are two different issues, both of which are seemingly “resolved” by switching to Grid View instead of Reading View.
    • Click "start a new thread" not responding.
From D2L: If you go to settings and change to Grid View, start new thread button will resume functionality
    • Regarding “bad HTML” - This is on D2Ls Known Issues list, however, there is no ETA at this time.
In most cases, text being copied & pasted into the HTML editor is carrying existing html & div tags from the LE (and from external websites) back into the editor.  This can cause duplication of the functions on the page, breaking it entirely.
    • Flags not reset properly in Reading View.
From D2L: As a workaround you can use Grid View to quickly mark all posts as read, and then return to Reading View to actually view the posts. Refresh your browser after accessing each message individually; this will reflect correct number of unread discussion posts in your discussion board.  The known issue with 'Discussion not being marked as unread' will be resolved in 10.5.5.
    • Inserting Links in Discussions - There is an issue with links in the discussion tab. Since the upgrade, whenever instructors go to check on their links that are listed in the text of discussions, the links are broken. A temporary solution to this issue is transcribed below:
  • Go into your course
  • Select the "Course Admin" option in the upper left-hand corner,
  • Under the section "Site Resources," select the option "Manage Files,"
  • Locate the files that you wish to update,
  • Hover over the name of the file and select the dropdown arrow,
  • In the dropdown menu, select the option "Rename,"
  • Rename the file to be all one word and select "Save,"
  • Note: Ensure that the name does not include any special characters or punctuation.
  • Go to your discussions tab and locate the files in your discussions,
  • Re-link the file to the text in your discussions by following the instructions below:
  • Locate the discussions that have your link listed,
  • Select the dropdown arrow next to the name of the discussion and select Edit Topic,
  • In the description, locate the text that is linked,
  • Click on the link so that your cursor is on the linked text,
  • Select the link icon in the menu above,
  • A pop-up window will appear, select the back arrow in the upper left-hand corner,
  • Select the updated course file from the listing.

This completes the instructions to re-link your files in your discussions. This should allow you and the students to open the file.

Firefox 35.0+ & Quizzes
Firefox 35.0+ causes slight issues with students answering questions in a quiz
With the latest updates of Firefox (35.0 & 35.0.1), during a quiz, students are running into an issue where their browser is not displaying the selection in a matching question box. Chrome 40+ is working correctly and should be recommended until this issue is resolved.

  • Turnitin-enabled Assignments folder, the due date is different than the due date set in the Assignments folder in CourseDen. You may be seeing errors with the generation of Turnitin's Originality/Similarity Reports in your CourseDen Assignments. If so the most common reason is dates.
    • First, be sure that your Assignments have a set Start and End Date. *You may use the first and last day of the semester if you do not have stated deadlines in your course.
    • Next, ensure he GradeMark availability date is set after the assignment's Start Date. *This date is important even if you do not use the GradeMark feature.
    • Finally, resubmit the assignment files containing the errors by clicking on the error icon. The reports should the appear within 24 hours.
    • However, if the error persists after resubmitting the reports, the error my be related to the student's submission itself (Ex. file type error, file contains fewer that 20 words, formatting issues, etc.). Please contact the FDC should you still experience problems with the reports.
  • Assignments Due Dates in Calendar: In courses with Assignments copied from other org units, editing and setting the Due Date may NOT cause it to appear in the Calendar as expected. We found that if you remove dates (Start, and End Availability and Due Date) and save without dates, then reset the Due Date, it seems to reset the assignment and the new Due Date does show in the Calendar. (Originally reported by Georgia Gwinnett College)
  • Quiz issues:
      • Copying content from Word into a Quiz - causes "Submit" to not function.
      • Special Access: There has been a two bugs found in 10.5.5 (which we went to on the 3rd Friday in March), that effects special access in quizzes. The issue has been fixed in version 10.5.6 (which we will be moving to on the 3rd Friday of April). Issue details: It used to be if a student needed additional time for a quiz, the instructor could simply add the student to Special Access and denote the new amount of time and save. The problem - It now disregards the initial start and end dates for the quiz and makes the quiz "Always Available" to the student. If you use Special Access to set the start and end dates for a student, once you save it the times are off by several hours. For example if I set the end date for March 23 at 11:30 p.m. when I save it, it displays as March 24 at 12:00 p.m. However, while it shows up incorrectly for the instructor, it does display the correct start and end date/time to the student.
