About Our Services

  • Our speech services are facilitated by graduate student clinicians participating in the Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Our clinicians are observed in real time by ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Our speech therapy sessions are 45-minutes long, twice-weekly (either Monday AND Wednesday or Tuesday AND Thursday).
  • Generally, in fall and spring semesters, we have appointment slots from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Mondays and Wednesdays) and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Tuesdays and Thursdays). In the summer session, we offer appointment slots from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (only on Tuesdays and Thursdays).
  • Appointments start on the hour and run for 45 minutes.
  • The cost of speech therapy services is currently $150 for the entire semester of services (usually about 22 sessions total). This cost is prorated for those starting later in the semester and we offer a 15% discount for UWG employees and their dependents. We do not bill insurance providers.
  • If a new evaluation is needed (for new clients who have not had a speech evaluation in the previous year), the cost is $100. If you have had an evaluation within the last year and/or are participating in speech at another provider, we would simply need a copy of that evaluation and the most recent provider notes.
  • Attendance of the client is extremely important to assure that the UWG student clinician get the required hours for graduation and licensure. We ask that all clients are at all scheduled speech therapy sessions unless they are contagious.

Tutoring

  • Literacy Tutoring: Assessment and instructional services in reading for students in grades K-5th
  • Math Tutoring: Diagnostic & instructional services in math for students K-5th

The CCC serves as an educational training facility for undergraduate students in the Early Childhood program. The UWG students provide tutoring under the supervision of their professors. Tutoring in math and literacy for students in grade K-5 generally begins with a diagnostic assessment of the client's math and reading ability. Then an individualized tutoring plan targeted to the client's needs and interest is developed. Our tutoring program follows the University semester schedules.

The CCC cannot recommend private tutors as we cannot guarantee the quality of service.

  • Our tutoring services are facilitated by undergraduate senior Early Childhood Majors enrolled in the adjoining math or reading course.
  • The tutoring programs run loosely alongside the UWG academic calendar. We offer sessions in fall and spring semesters.
  • The tutors are observed in real time by the professors for the math and reading course.
  • Currently we offer tutoring to students in K-5.
  • The tutoring sessions last 55 minutes one time weekly.
  • During fall and spring semesters math tutoring is from 5:00-5:55 and reading tutoring is from 6:00-6:55 on Tuesday OR Thursday nights.
  • The cost for tutoring services is currently $50 per subject for the semester paid during the first week of tutoring. The semester includes 10 tutoring sessions.
  • The tutors will conduct mini assessments the first two weeks of tutoring. From these, the tutors will determine the skills the child requires extra help in. The tutors will then plan activities and teaching strategies for those skills.
  •  Attendance of the child is extremely important to assure that the UWG student tutors get the required hours for class credit. We ask that all children are at all scheduled tutoring unless they are contagious. Attendance issues will be considered in scheduling slots for tutoring the following semester.
  • Tutoring is not homework club. The tutors are required to plan engaging sessions to complete with the children.
  • Children do not need to bring any supplies to tutoring. The nominal cost for tutoring is used to purchase consumables and materials the children will use during tutoring.
