The Online Teaching Endorsement program prepares educators to design, facilitate, and manage instruction in an online format. Participants are prepared to assume a role as leaders in online learning for their organization. The endorsement consists of four courses focused on the characteristics and instructional methods of developing, delivering, assessing, and administering online courses from the classroom to the organizational system level. The Online Teaching Endorsement will be beneficial to K12 and higher education teachers, as well as instructional designers, and administrators.
Online Teaching Endorsement- 12 semester hours of graduate credit as follows:
MEDT 7461 – Instructional Design or MEDT 7464 Designing Technology Enhanced Instruction 3
MEDT 7472 – Introduction to Distance Education 3
MEDT 7491 – Implementation, Assessment, and Evaluation of online Learning 3
MEDT 7492 – Leadership and Administration of Online Learning / e-learning

Method of Delivery
The University of West Georgia is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
Credit and transfer
Total semester hours required: 12
This program is offered entirely online. Though a student may choose to sign-up for a face-to-face elective or core course, one can earn this degree completely online.
UWG is often ranked as one of the most affordable accredited university of its kind, regardless of the method of delivery chosen. In addition, online courses and programs can mean a huge cost-savings in many non-evident ways: No more high gas charges. No childcare needed. The flexibility can allow one to maintain a job while attending school. Regardless of state residency, out-of-state non-resident students are not charged non-resident tuition for online course credit hours.
- Total tuition costs and fees may vary, depending on the instructional method of the courses in which the student chooses to enroll.
- The more courses a student takes in a single term, the more they will typically save in fees and total cost.
- Face-to-Face or partially online courses are charged at the general tuition rate and all mandatory campus fees, based on the student's residency (non-residents are charged at a higher rate).
- Fully or entirely online course tuition rates and fees my vary depending on the program. Students enrolled in exclusively online courses do not pay non-Resident rates.
- Together this means that GA residents pay about the same if they take all face-to-face or partially online courses as they do if they take only fully online courses exclusively; while non-residents save money by taking fully online courses.
- One word of caution: If a student takes a combination of face-to-face and online courses in a single term, they will pay both all mandatory campus fees and the higher eTuition rate.

MEDT-7492 - Leadership and Administration of Online Learning and e-Learning
Students will analyze and develop policy related to distance education and e-Learning programs and learn to oversee installation and administration of a learning management system. Course topics include: management theory and practice; leadership roles and styles; and planning and policy development for educational and corporate organizations.
Guidelines for Admittance
All graduate applicants must complete the online Grad Application. A one-time application fee of $40 is required.

Official transcripts from a regionally or nationally accredited institution are required along with official transcripts from all schools attended, and should be sent directly to the UWG Graduate Admissions Office.
Program Specific Admittance Guidelines
- 2.75 GPA from your Bachelor’s Degree Program
- Hold a level four (4) or higher renewable professional certificate in any teaching field, service, or leadership and complete other requirements outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-3-.94 ENDORSEMENTS.
- Hold a level four (4) or higher Induction certificate in any teaching or service field and complete other requirements outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.14 ENDORSEMENTS.
- Be currently enrolled in a UWG graduate program
Currently enrolled UWG students:
Students who are currently enrolled in a University of West Georgia graduate degree program in the College of Education should talk with their advisor if they are interested in adding the Online Teaching Endorsement courses to their existing program of study.

- Candidates will identify and apply instructional design principles associated with the development of distance education systems (ISTE-C 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f)
- Candidates will design distance education environments that meet the diverse needs of learners and instructors (ISTE-C 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f)
- Candidates will identify and locate technology-based resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability for a distance education environment (ISTE-C 2g, 2h)
- Candidates will plan for the management of distance education instructional resources within the context of learning (ISTE-C 2a)
- Candidates will plan strategies to manage student learning in a distance education environment (ISTE-C 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e, 2f)
- Candidates will identify learning outcomes, benchmarks, and measurable evidence of student learning (ISTE-C 2g, 2h)
