Educational research at University of West Georgia offers courses in preparation for
Master's and Educational Specialist as they are applied in a variety of educational
settings. These courses provide a foundation for students enabling better understanding
of published research which is needed for the continuing improvement of classroom
teaching. The research methods which are introduced can be useful in their own classrooms
to investigate their learning environment. Also presented are the tools to evaluate
educational practices providing the skills to improve the school learning. Courses
present ways of creating assessments as well as using data to improve schools.
Students of educational research and faculty members at University of West Georgia conduct research analyzing issues in school improvement. Students' research includes areas of early childhood, middle grades, secondary education administration, counseling, media and special education. Faculty in the program also provides expertise to faculty members and graduate students in the College of Education by serving as methodology specialists on research projects, student theses, and doctoral dissertation committees.
