The COE Early Learning Center at the University of West Georgia, is a new endeavor aimed at developing as a state-of-the-art early childhood site committed to early childhood research, practice, and policy hub and a place for community partnership, family engagement, and scholarly expertise.
The four strategic goals of the COE Early Learning Center include:
- Supporting the community’s capacity for inclusive early childhood education and early care programs and supports.
- Modeling best-in-class educational practice and programming.
- Increasing family and community engagement and partnerships.
- Building collective expertise for innovation and comprehensive services.
The following services and programs are housed on-site:
Early Childhood Research Lab
An early childhood research team of more than twenty graduate and undergraduate students supports funded grant projects. These projects include training and support for educators and families, training for early childhood providers, program evaluation, practice-based coaching, and developmental screening of young children.
Georgia Pre-K Program
The preschool program at the COE Early Learning Center is a nationally accredited, state-funded program for four-year old children. Two observation rooms allows the classrooms to facilitate a laboratory school setting.
(Future) Early Childhood Makerspace
One classroom space in the COE Early Learning Center is the future home of an early childhood makerspace, a learning environment furnished with innovative learning and building materials that fosters collaboration and making.
