Welcome to Fall 2026, Wolves!
Dear UWG Students,
Welcome to the start of a new academic year at the University of West Georgia! Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another semester, I am delighted to welcome you to the Pack.
Your faculty, staff, and university leaders are committed to your success. We want you to make the most of your experience, both inside and outside the classroom. As you settle into the semester, here are a few updates and opportunities to keep in mind.
Pack Cards: Collect, Trade, Discover
One of the best ways to make the most of your time at UWG is to get involved, and this year, we're excited to introduce Pack Cards, a new university-wide initiative designed to help you discover all that the university has to offer and earn the opportunity to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Pack Cards encourage engagement, school spirit, and campus connection through a collection of UWG trading cards.
Throughout the year, you'll have opportunities to collect packs containing cards that highlight UWG traditions, campus landmarks, notable alumni, university leaders, signature events, and important campus resources. As you attend events and explore campus, you can build your collection, trade cards with friends, and learn more about the people, places, and traditions that make UWG unique.
Students who complete the full collection will be eligible for a limited number of $1,000 scholarships, as well as some instant-win prizes, adding an extra incentive to explore campus and participate in university life.
Cheer On the Wolves
There is nothing quite like the energy and excitement of a new year in UWG Athletics, and I hope you'll join us in supporting your fellow Wolves who represent UWG in NCAA Division I competition.
Women's Soccer is already underway, with the next home match scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16. Wolves Football kicks off its season with a Thursday night home game on Aug. 27 at home against Chattanooga, and Volleyball opens its season the next day, Aug. 28.
Our student-athletes represent UWG with pride, and your support makes a difference. I encourage you to attend games, bring your friends, and help create a great home-field advantage.
Wolves Red Fridays
Speaking of school spirit, don't forget about Wolves Red Fridays.
Every Friday, I encourage you to wear red and help showcase the pride, tradition, and community that make UWG special. It's a simple way to demonstrate your connection to the university and show what it means to be part of the Wolf Pack.
Wolves Unplugged
We're also excited to launch Wolves Unplugged, a new live performance series that will bring music, entertainment, and energy to campus throughout the academic year. From student performers to emerging artists and local bands, these events are designed to create opportunities for our community to gather, connect, and enjoy the vibrant campus life that makes UWG such a special place.
I encourage you to attend and help make this exciting new tradition your own. For the latest information about upcoming performances and other campus events, follow @uwg.campuslife on Instagram.
Help Shape UWG's Future
The University of West Georgia is currently developing its next strategic plan through the UWG Next process. As we imagine the future of our institution, your voice matters.
Students are at the center of everything we do, and your experiences, ideas, and aspirations will help inform the path ahead. I encourage you to participate by sharing your thoughts through the open input form and other engagement opportunities throughout the process.
Make This Semester Count
A new semester is a chance for a fresh start. Challenge yourself academically, get involved on campus, explore new opportunities, and don't hesitate to seek help when you need it.
As you pursue your goals, I also encourage you to keep UWG in Four in mind. Earning your degree in four years starts with consistent progress each semester. For most students, that means completing about 30 credit hours each year, or 15 credit hours per semester, to stay on pace toward graduation. Talk regularly with your advisor, monitor your progress, and take advantage of the resources available to support your success.
I am excited to see all that you will accomplish in the months ahead, and I look forward to seeing you on campus.
Have a wonderful semester, and as always, Go Wolves!
