Mai Naito Mills, Ph.D.

Dr. Mills became a member of the Criminology faculty within the Department of Civic Engagement & Public Service in August 2014, following the completion of her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from the University of West Florida and a Master's degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Driven by a research agenda focused on wrongful convictions, her expertise lies in the legal dimensions of eyewitness identification. Her diverse research portfolio also encompasses areas such as sentencing and official misconduct in wrongful convictions. In addition to her scholarly pursuits, Dr. Mills is passionate about teaching various subjects, including criminal courts, criminal procedures, criminal law, wrongful convictions, and other related topics.
