Sarah Hupp Williamson, Ph.D.

Dr. Sarah Hupp Williamson joined UWG in 2019 after receiving her Ph.D. in Sociology with a specialization in Crime, Deviance, and Social Control from North Carolina State University. She obtained both her M.A. (2015) and B.A. (2013) in Criminology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Her several lines of research examine the intersections of globalization, inequality, and crime. Her primary area of research and teaching deals with human trafficking, criminological theory, and inequality in a global context. Her secondary area of research examines media coverage of crime as it relates to stereotypes, power, and policy.
