Annual Mix It Up at Lunch Day (October)

It is dedicated to help obliterate bigotry, by promoting the valuing of diversity, understanding and acceptance.The “Mix It Up” challenge provides an opportunity for the UWG community to reach across the lines of style and appearance, the divisions of race, socioeconomic status, gender, generations/cohort groups, and social boundaries to become engaged with new people creating a culture of belonging and connectedness. This event was initiated in November 2002, by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) through its activism center (Tolerance.org.) and UWG began participating in 2009.

Annual Hunger Banquet (November)

An annual event about the causes and effects of chronic hunger on our campus and in our communities, using the Ox fam model. The Hunger Banquet, which is sponsored by the office, started in 2011 at the University of West Georgia.

Annual World Festival (March)

In collaboration with various offices and groups at UWG the office hosts “The World Festival” during March of each year. This event consists of various cultural displays, entertainment and food, as well as the participation of vendors from the surrounding communities aiming to bring the world to our local communities.

Wolf Table Talks (Monthly)

This is a monthly series designed to have meaningful dialogue related to diversity, equity and inclusion to create a more engaging and culturally competent campus. The series will generally utilize a conversational format to allow for organic dialogue. Topics covered are suggested by students (i.e. some past topics: Belonging/finding home: How do we respect the lived experiences of others; Health care disparities: Can you relate? Microaggressions are 4real)
