After you receive notification that your job has been posted, you can use the Applicant Management Job Aid to assist in tracking your applicants. (To view the job aid, you will need to login in using your SSO credentials.)

After you've made your selection of the candidate you'd like to hire, or if you already have a student selected to fill your SA/FWS position or are rehiring a former student employee, please submit your hire request using the link below:

Hire Request Form - Student

  • If you do not have a job opening ID, please use the position number the student will be paid from.
  • If you do not have an applicant ID, please input “00000”

HR will then verify the student for student employment eligibility and submit the offer for the appropriate approvals.

After the hire request is submitted, it will go through an approval process prior to coming to me for the hiring process to begin.

You will receive the next steps communication the student receives that gives instructions on how to complete all necessary steps with HR. These steps must be completed for the student to be paid.

PLEASE NOTE: Students are NOT allowed to work until both you and the receive a Student Work Authorization email. If the student(s) has worked on campus before, and the Office of Human Resources is able to verity their information, you both will receive the Student Work Authorization email.

Guidelines for Student Employee Compensation as of September 18, 2022

Student Assistants (SAs) are not to exceed 1,300 hours per calendar year as a UWG employee. During fall and spring semester when classes are in session, SAs may work up to 29 hours per week (requests for exceptions to exceed the weekly hour limit must be approved by the Office of Human Resources). During summer and when classes are not in session, students may work up to 40 hours per week. Note, once Federal Work Study (FWS) funds are exhausted, the department must utilize department resources to fund any deficits.
