
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month: Helena Exeni Reflects on Cancer Journey After Receiving National Scholarship
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and University of West Georgia's own Helena Exeni has been awarded the National Children's Cancer Society Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship. As a 16-year-old sophomore in high school, Helena was diagnosed with Central Nervous System (CNS) germinoma. After many months of challenges and treatments, Helena defeated the cancer with strength and a positive outlook.

Constitution Day Brings Discussion of First Amendment to UWG
University of West Georgia professors Dr. Daniel Williams, Department of History, and Dr. Robert Schaefer, Department of Political Science, presented in celebration of Constitution Day on September 17. The program entitled "Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Religion: The First Amendment and American Politics" gave insight how the First Amendment was formed and how it continues to present issues in modern society.

UWG Invites Successful Women to Talk "Taboo Topics"
Women from all over west Georgia gathered recently at the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce's Burson Center in Carrollton to hear some sage advice from four successful professionals - who also happen to be women - during the annual Women Empowering Women panel hosted by UWG's Richards College of Business. This year's discussion featured Becky Blalock, Missy Dugan, Erica Qualls-Battey, and Laura Travis.
UWG's Cherie Jade Grant Attends Student Leadership Summit
University of West Georgia's Cherie Jade Grant represented UWG's chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi as the vice president at this year's Student Leadership Summit. The two-day summit, hosted by the society, took place in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 31 and August 1.

The University of West Georgia's Ingram Library, in partnership with the psychology department, is pleased to present an exhibit highlighting the career of former University of West Georgia faculty member, Dr. William G. Going into her second year here at UWG, she is a member of the Latino Culture Society, a student ambassador, she works two on-campus jobs, volunteers in the community, devotes her time as a mentor to freshmen protégés, and will be a semester ahead in her journey to complete her bachelor's in business management by the end of the school year.

UWG Continues to Improve Ranking in 2016 U.S. News & World Report
The University of West Georgia continues to improve its ranking, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report released on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The national report ranked UWG 42nd in the Public South Regional University category, an increase from the 47th spot last year, and 87th in the overall South Regional University category, up from last year’s ranking of 92nd.

The WOLF Internet Radio 2015 CBI Finalist
