The University of West Georgia’s Publications & Printing received the Top Notch Award for the most winning entries in the 2016 Print Excellence competition, Division I, sponsored by the Printing Industry Association of Georgia. UWG Pressmen Keith Harris and Carlos Olvera represented the print staff at the 2016 awards presentation in Atlanta recently. The glass award, in the shape of a flame, is on display at Pub & Print.

Eight printed pieces from UWG were selected from among hundreds of entries submitted by printers across Georgia. Fewer than 10 percent of entries receive an award. UWG’s printing facility won six Best of Category awards and two Awards of Excellence for printing produced on campus. All UWG pieces were designed by University Communications and Marketing. Winning publications are:

Fall Perspective Magazine, Development and Alumni
Go West Student Mailer, Office of Admissions
Accepted West Package, Office of Admissions
Presidential Scholarship Gala Program and Invitation, Office of the President

Two publications printed on campus for other University System of Georgia institutions, and one for local government, were also winners:

Old Red Kimono Student Literary Magazine, Georgia Highlands College
Talon Magazine, Kennesaw State University
Advantage Carroll 2020 Booklet, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce

Award certificates are provided to the winning offices and departments for their partnerships with Pub & Print in producing the award-winning pieces. Entries submitted were printed over the past year. PIAG is a unit of the national PIA, the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious state and national printing competition This was the 67th year for the Premier Print Awards competition.
