The University of West Georgia Athletic Foundation is pleased to announce its partnership with Amazon to raise funds through Amazon’s new philanthropic program, AmazonSmile. The program is an exciting new initiative in which the major online retailer will donate a percentage of its sales from UWG’s many alumni, students, friends and others to the UWG Athletic Foundation.
AmazonSmile is aimed at raising funds for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and “offers a simple and automatic way for its customers to support their favorite charitable organizations every time they shop, at no cost to the customer,” according to Amazon’s website.
“I’m sure many of our alumni and friends use Amazon to make their everyday purchases,” said Matthew Clay, executive director of the UWG Athletic Foundation. “We hope this year, especially around the holiday season, and anytime into the future, Wolves fans will make their Amazon purchases through AmazonSmile and choose UWG Athletic Foundation as their charity of choice.”
Amazon will remember customers’ selections via their Amazon accounts, and then every single eligible purchase the customers make will result in a 0.5 percent donation of eligible purchases to support the continued success of the Wolves athletic programs.
“We are excited about this opportunity and hope that our UWG family and friends will help support UWG Athletics by choosing the UWG Athletic Foundation as their charitable organization,” said Clay.
