Storytelling is at the core of who I am.
A passion that first led me from journalism and photography into marketing and communications. I earned my degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Psychology from the University of West Georgia. Years later, I returned to develop my visual storytelling skills further and earned a certificate in photography in 2023. Returning to UWG has been a full-circle moment in my journey. To now contribute to the same community that shaped me, and to play a role in telling its story while supporting the next generation of media professionals, is both meaningful and rewarding. Much of what shapes my work comes from experience, observation, and a willingness to keep learning along the way.
I worked as a reporter and photographer covering multiple beats, including education, government, community features, and local events, for the Douglas County Sentinel newspaper. These early roles taught me how to ask better questions, work with immediacy, and achieve clarity in complex or fast-moving situations, while always focusing on the human element behind the story. I later transitioned into public-sector communications with the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority, where I translated technical information on water and wastewater into clear, engaging messaging that kept people at the center.
Since my transition to public sector communications, my work has expanded to include marketing strategy, social media management, and visual storytelling. As I gained experience in these areas, I enjoyed building content that connects and informs, while emphasizing authenticity and audience engagement. Now that I’m back in the place where it all began, I have the opportunity to continue and grow my passion for storytelling in addition to honing my craft. My natural curiosity drives me to refine my craft continuously, explore new tools, and learn from the people and stories around me.
If there is a camera nearby, I will probably pick it up. If there is a story to tell, I am already thinking about the best way to tell it and the audience it will reach. At the core of everything I do is a simple belief: stories and people matter, and the right message at the right time can have a lasting impact.
