Daniel Banks is an acclaimed theatre director, choreographer, and dialogue facilitator, who has worked across the globe leading arts-based social justice programs with artists, educators, and activists of all ages. He is the Co-Director of DNAWORKS and the director and founder of the Hip Hop Theatre Initiative, a program that engages Hip Hop Theatre to promote youth self-expression and leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from NYU and his writings on casting, Hip Hop Theatre, and Applied Theatre are featured in several books and publications. He is the editor of the first critical anthology of Hip Hop Theatre plays Say Word! Voices from Hip Hop Theatre as well as the forthcoming The Welcome Table: Casting a Movement.
