College of Education Criminal Background Check
A candidate will not be considered for field experiences or be permitted to begin field experiences in the schools until he or she has submitted the College of Education Criminal Background Check form and the Office of Field Experiences has received a cleared status.
The College of Education has taken steps to assist candidates in meeting schools' requirements. There are two checkpoints at which candidates must complete a College of Education Criminal Background Check form: (1) prior to admission to the teacher education program; and (2) prior to internship placement. Deadline dates that must be met prior to placement are as follows: fall term - 1st Monday in April; and spring term - 2nd Monday in September.
The College of Education Criminal Background Check form is located at:
http://coe.westga.edu/Forms/default.asp. Select COE Criminal Background Check to print the form. The completed form must be notarized and submitted to the Office of Field Experiences. (To assist candidates, a notary public is available in the Office of Field Experiences at no charge.) Self-reporting of any incidents that occur between checkpoints must be submitted in writing to the CBC Director in the Office of Field Experiences. For additional information, see the Teacher Education Handbook located at: http://coe.westga.edu/StudentsTCFP/teacherhandbook.asp.
