Learning Outcomes:
The Area of Counselor Education and College Student Affairs currently offers three graduate degrees in counseling, M.Ed. in Professional Counseling (School, Clinical Mental Health, or College Student Affairs), Ed.S. in Professional Counseling, and Ed.D. in Professional Counseling and Supervision. The M.Ed. programs in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP; Note: The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is currently accredited under the 2001 CACREP standards for Community Counseling programs. Effective fall 2014, only admissions for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program will be accepted to meet re-accreditation requirements. The CACREP 2009 standards combine the Community Counseling and Mental Health Counseling standards into standards for Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. The counseling program is seeking accreditation for this program as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program when it comes up for reaccreditation, per CACREP guidelines.). The M.Ed. in College Student Affairs meets the criteria for master's programs in the 6th edition of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS).
