Build your engineering foundation

Engineering at UWG is a transfer pathway, not a standalone degree. With strong coursework in math and science and personalized faculty support, UWG helps you develop the foundation you’ll need to manage the demands of an engineering curriculum once you transfer.

The Regents’ Engineering Pathways (REP) program is a University System of Georgia (USG) initiative that enables students to complete foundational math and science coursework at a participating USG institution and then transfer to a designated engineering institution to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. The University of West Georgia (UWG) is one of the approved participating institutions in the REP program.

Recommended Preparatory Coursework at UWG

To transfer into an engineering program, students must complete two required English, five mathematics, and four science courses, along with applicable IMPACTS core courses. Depending on your interests and career goals, we recommend choosing one of the following two courses of study.

This is a typical plan for students on both the REP and dual degree tracks.

Some engineering institutions do not accept online math or science courses, so face‑to‑face instruction is strongly recommended.  Science and math courses must be taken in sequence to stay on track for transfer, as changes can delay progression.

Student Resources

  • Take advantage of services provided by the UWG Center for Academic Success, including peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and success workshops.
  • UWG's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Career Readiness through Experiential Learning, helps you turn what you learn in class into real‑world experience—starting your first year. Through hands‑on, career‑connected learning like internships, research, and projects, you’ll build the skills employers want and graduate ready for what’s next.
  • Get involved in STEM‑focused student organizations that support your academic growth, professional development, and engagement. Attend STEM-focused lectures and information sessions, participate in industry field trips, connect with alumni, and gain leadership experience.

Partner Institutions

UWG partners with Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, Mercer University, and Kennesaw State University, with a dual‑degree option also available through Kennesaw State University.

The information below will help you to find transfer requirements and provide useful links for the different institutions. Since requirements vary by institution and major, students should work closely with an advisor to ensure all transfer criteria are met.  Transfer requirements could change, so it is important to routinely check the engineering institutions' webpage.
