Your student can start a UWG graduate degree while finishing their bachelor's or earn guaranteed admission to UWG's graduate school.

Qualifying for a Double Wolf Pathway is a remarkable achievement. Students must show high academic promise in their undergraduate major to join a pathway, and not every student can achieve what is needed to meet the requirements.

The Double Wolf Pathways are designed to removed as many barriers to graduate school as possible. From taking graduate classes in undergrad to earning guaranteed admission to a graduate program, these pathways help undergraduate students enter graduate school as seamlessly as possible while saving time and money.

There's no need to do more than one pathway, as each pathway leads to graduate school. The only difference being how your student gets there.

Start Early

Eligible students take up to 12 graduate credits in place of undergraduate courses, at the undergraduate tuition rate. The credits count toward both degrees.

  • 75+ credit hours completed
  • 30+ hours earned at UWG
  • 3.2 GPA or higher
  • At least one semester of undergraduate study remaining

Direct Admit

Qualifying seniors receive a personalized, fee-free application link and are automatically admitted to a program aligned with their major, good for three semesters after graduation.

  • 100+ credit hours completed
  • 30+ hours earned at UWG
  • 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher

Apply & Continue

The most flexible route. Your student applies to any of UWG's graduate programs through the standard application, with no requirement to stay in their undergraduate field.

  • Open to every graduate program
  • Eligibility set by each program's own requirements
  • Standard application and $55 fee

Common Questions

Will this delay my student's bachelor's degree?

No. Start Early courses are taken in place of undergraduate courses, so your student earns undergraduate and graduate credit at the same time. One course counts toward both degrees!

Is my student locked into graduate school?

No. Taking Start Early courses doesn't obligate your student to enroll in a graduate program. If they decide not to continue into graduate school, the courses will still count toward their bachelor's degree.

What if their GPA changes?

Automatic admission after graduation requires a 3.2 undergraduate GPA and a grade of B or higher in each Double Wolf graduate course. A student who misses that mark can still apply to a graduate program through the regular graduate application.

Will financial aid or HOPE cover Start Early courses?

Financial aid treatment depends on your student's specific aid package. Because this is an undergraduate course, undergraduate financial aid could apply. Before registering, have your student contact the Office of Financial Aid to confirm how their scholarships, grants or loans may apply.

Step One: Start the Conversation

Ask your student whether they've looked at the Double Wolf Pathways. If they're a junior or senior with a 3.2 GPA, they may already qualify.

Step Two: Check Eligibility Together

Compare their credit hours and GPA to the pathways above. Not sure where your student qualifies? The Graduate School can check for you.

Step Three: Encourage the Next Step

For Start Early, that's the interest form on the Graduate School site. For Direct Admit, it's watching their UWG email for the personalized application link.
