Cost of Attendance
Tuition and fees are based on the number of credit hours a student is enrolled each semester. For graduate international students, a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester is required for immigration compliance. Students are able to take up to 21 credit hours per semester without special permission.
International Students may wish to seek funding and scholarships while at the University of West Georgia. We recommend that each international student fill out the UWG General Scholarship Application (Scholarship Search below). Students may also qualify for private scholarships or an out of state tuition waiver. All requirements are listed below.
Graduate Student Assistantships, Research Assistantships and Teaching Assistantships are also available. These assistantships offer valuable professional development opportunities in various programs and departments within the university for degree-seeking graduate students through supervised work experiences.
We estimate the cost of attendance to the University of West Georgia for 1 year to be:
- Tuition and Fees - $18,500 (Based on 9 credit hours)
- Mandatory Health Insurance - $3,000
- Housing - $7,000
- Meal Plan - $2,400
- Books - $500
- Travel - $600
- Total Estimated Cost: $32,000

Each graduate program at UWG sets their own requirements for acceptance into the program. Check your program for a list of these documents.
Proof of English Proficiency
All students must meet West Georgia's English Language Proficiency requirement.
- For those whose first language is English, the requirement can be waived based on completion of a degree taught in the English language from an English-based educational system (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, etc.).
- For others, proof of English proficiency is required, and a number of exams are acceptable. For most students, the TOEFL or IELTS exams are the most common with the following score requirements:
