Bridgette Stewart, M. Ed.

Bridgette Stewart brings a wealth of experience to the field of higher education, having served in a variety of academic and leadership roles throughout her career. She currently serves as the inaugural Chief Wellness Officer at the University of West Georgia (UWG), a position housed within the Office of the President.

Prior to this appointment, Ms. Stewart was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sport Management, Wellness, and Physical Education, a role she held since 2003. She continues to contribute to the academic mission of UWG by teaching part-time in the Master of Science in Integrative Health and Wellness program. She is also the former Program Coordinator for the undergraduate degree in Health and Community Wellness.

In addition to her CWO role, Ms. Stewart serves as the Director of the Center for Integrative Wellness and the Wolf Wellness Lab, both of which support student and employee well-being through innovative programming and campus-wide initiatives.

Nationally, she is recognized for her leadership in the wellness field. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the National Wellness Institute and currently chairs the Council on Wellness Continuing Education for the Wellness Alliance. In 2018, Ms. Stewart was inducted into the National Wellness Institute’s Circle of Leadership, and in 2023, under her leadership, the University of West Georgia received the same distinction.

  • QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Instructor

  • Mental Health First Aid Instructor

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor-Trainer – American Heart Association

  • Certified Wellness Practitioner (NWI)

  • Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist (NWI)

  • Certified Sports Nutrition Coach

Outside of her professional work, Bridgette enjoys spending quality time with her two children, Alex and CiCi, and can often be found on the golf course with family and friends.
