Elizabeth Pope, Ph.D.

Elizabeth M. Pope, Ph.D., M.A., is the Director of Research Compliance and an Associate Professor in the Educational Research program. Dr. Pope oversees UWG’s research activities for regulatory compliance, training, and human research protection, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB). She coordinates the development and enforcement of human research compliance-related policies, monitoring compliance for the university’s domestic and international research activities. Dr. Pope is actively engaged in teaching, research, and service. Her teaching and scholarship lie in qualitative methodologies, exploring adult learning through interfaith encounters, transformative learning, and the teaching and learning of qualitative research methods. As a qualitative methodologist, her scholarship focuses on reflexivity as a foundational and continuous component of qualitative research, the use of digital tools in qualitative research, ethics in qualitative research, and conducting qualitative meta-syntheses.
