Mentor Program

The Wolves Mentoring Program is a skills-focused mentoring program that connects University of West Georgia students and recent alumni with mentors who can support their growth in specific developmental areas.

Who is the Mentoring Program for?

UWG undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates, you are invited to join the program as mentees. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn to develop personally and professionally
  • Expand in priority skill areas
  • Make professional connections and grow your network

Alumni, UWG faculty and staff, and business or community partners, you are invited to join the program as mentors. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Invest in a current UWG undergraduate or graduate student to help them develop personally and professionally
  • Share your knowledge and expertise from your background, career, and industry
  • Enhance your mentoring and leadership skills

Wolves Skill Areas:

Rather than matching students based on major or career field, Wolves Mentoring pairs mentees with mentors based on specific skills. Mentees identify the skills they want to strengthen, while mentors identify the skills they can offer as strengths—creating matches centered on meaningful skill development. They include:

how it works

The Wolves Mentoring Program offers two participation pathways. Students who register by Friday, August 15th will be considered for Traditional Mentoring, which is a semester-long match that includes a minimum of three one-hour meetings, a Mentorship Agreement completed during the first meeting, and required midpoint and final follow-up.

Students who register after Friday, August 15th will be considered for Flash Mentoring, which is a one-time, one-hour mentoring session focused on an immediate need, along with a brief follow-up from the program administrator.

  1. To join the Mentorship program as a Mentor or Mentee, fill out the form specific to your desired role below:

  2. After you submit your completed form, you will receive a confirmation email from UWG Career Services stating your request has been received, and you will be invited to schedule a brief orientation meeting. Mentees will discuss the skill areas they would like to develop, and mentors will identify their strengths.
  3. Mentors and Mentees will then be matched as a pair based on based on the skills and strenghts-matching model.
  4. After matches are made, an email will be sent to both the Mentor and Mentee informing them of the match.
  5. Mentoring pairs will communicate and connect throughout the semester for traditional mentoring, or set up their one-time meeting for flash mentoring.
