An online video conferencing appointment
Online Counseling takes place via a secure Zoom meeting and allows for a similar experience as our face-to-face appointments. We have online groups and individual counseling.
All registered students are eligible, as long as they are in the state of Georgia. Unfortunately, due to licensing laws we cannot provide services to students in other states or countries. If you are outside of Georgia call 833-910-3367 to access 5 free counseling sessions for UWG students.
As confidential as possible
We make every effort to uphold the same confidentiality standards in online counseling that we have in person. The nature of the internet prevents us from being able to fully guarantee confidentiality. We use a Zoom account that is encrypted and HIPAA compliant, to offer the most confidentiality available at this time. You can protect your own confidentiality by making sure you are in a private space when you meet.
We offer groups and individual services online.
Most of our students say that they worried about online counseling being awkward, but most are surprised by how normal it feels once they experience it for themselves. It is a good idea to talk with your counselor about any concerns you have with the online process.
More information will be in your inbox
After your telephone conversation you will receive an email from our office. That email will provide a link where you will fill out the first appointment paperwork, and a link for a secure Zoom meeting. The paperwork must be completed within 30 minutes - if you can't complete it, please call us back.. Once you have completed the paperwork, click on the Zoom link to meet with one of our counselors. The initial meeting typically lasts 15-30 minutes.
