The University of West Georgia offers undergraduate certificates, post-baccalaureate graduate certificates, and post-masters graduate certificates. The information on this page will provide you with the necessary information for receiving your certificate from UWG.

Undergraduate Certificates

Undergraduate students who intend to receive a certificate in addition to their degree must apply for the certificate through the Undergraduate Certificate Application form. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor and apply for the certificiate as soon as they intend to pursue the certificate program. Students receiving undergraduate certificates must complete all the requirements for their intended certificate prior to receiving their undergraduate degree. Students who receive undergraduate certificates will have their accomplishment noted on their official academic transcript. For questions regarding course requirements for undergraduate certificates, students should contact their academic advisor or the academic department offering the certificate. 

Graduate Certificates (Post-Baccalaureate & Post-Masters)

Students intending to receive a graduate-level certificate must apply for graduation through the Office of the Registrar. Students pursuing a graduate certificate alongside a graduate degree (i.e. - Master of Arts in History & Graduate Certificate in Data Analysis and Evaluations Methods) must apply to graduate for both the certificate and degree in the same semester. There is no charge to apply to graduate with a graduate certificate. Students who are only receiving a graduate certificate are not allowed to participate in commencement. Students receiving a certificate and a degree may choose to participate in commencement.

Graduate certificate applications must be submitted by the graduation application deadlines:

Spring Graduation - October 1
Summer Graduation - March 1
Fall Graduation - August 1

Applications may be submitted to the Enrollment Services Center, Parker Hall, University of West Georgia, 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118 or from your MyUWG email account to graduation@westga.edu.

College of Education Teacher Certification / Endorsements

Certification of teaching endorsements is handled through the College of Education. Students seeking endorsement should not complete an application for certificate graduation through the Office of the Registrar.
