Tommy Jackson, JD, Ph.D., MBA, MPA

Dr. Tommy Jackson is an Assistant Department Chair in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Speech-Language Pathology, and Assistant Professor. Additionally, Dr. Jackson serves as a Freeman Mathis & Gary Research and Policy Fellow, actively contributing his research expertise to the development of legislation pertaining to name, image, and likeness (NIL).

Dr. Jackson's diverse research interests encompass intricate economic dynamics between the NCAA and student-athletes, as well as areas such as higher education policy, finance, and law.

His academic credentials include a Ph.D., M.Ed., and a BA, all earned at Auburn University. Dr. Jackson continued his education by obtaining an MBA and MPA from Kennesaw State University and a Juris Doctorate from the Jones School of Law at Faulkner University. Prior to his career in academia, he enjoyed a three-year tenure in the National Football League. Prior to the professoriate, Dr. Jackson served as the Director of Advising Services (University College) at Kennesaw State University and established the academic support program for Kennesaw State Football.
