Undergraduate Programs Committee

Purpose

To receive and consider requests for modifications to the undergraduate curriculum as specified in the UWG Shared Governance Procedures for Modifications to Academic Programs and to advise the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs on said requests; as well as to review comprehensive program reviews.

Membership

Ten senators; one faculty member elected from each of the major academic units (colleges, schools and the library); four administrators: the Registrar, a Provost and VPAA appointee, the Dean of the Honors College, and the Executive Director of Interdisciplinary Programs; Student Rep. (Total: 22)

Curriculog Submission Deadlines for 2025-2026

Curriculog and UWG's catalog management system, Acalog, are directly linked for updates to curriculum in the catalogs. Curriculog must close down at the end of the academic year in order for a new working catalog to be created and then synced back to Curriculog. Proposals in Curriculog that require SACSCOC and/or USG notification or approval take significant time to process. New programs and program changes can only be effective in a Fall term and should be submitted at least 9-12 months in advance. To help UWG process these proposals so that they can be included in the catalog for the next academic year, the following deadlines have been set:

January Faculty Senate Deadline: For all new programs, some revised programs, and all new stand-alone certificates that require USG or SACSCOC notification or approval, the proposals must be on the faculty senate agenda for the January 2026 meeting or before. Note: to meet this deadline, proposals must already be approved by either the Undergraduate Programs Committee (UPC) or the Graduate Programs Committee (GPC).

March Faculty Senate Deadline: For any curriculum proposals that require faculty senate notification or approval, but do not require USG or SACSCOC notification or approval, the proposals must be on the faculty senate agenda for the March 2026 meeting or before. Note: to meet this deadline, proposals must already be approved by either the Undergraduate Programs Committee (UPC) or the Graduate Programs Committee (GPC).

April 24, 2026 Deadline: For any curriculum proposals that only require the Provost's approval and not faculty senate notification or approval, the deadline for submission to the Provost in Curriculog is Friday, April 24, 2026. NOTE: This means the proposal must be through the college- or school-level review and approval prior to this date and routed to the Provost for review.

Any proposals that are in Curriculog but have not met these deadlines will be returned to the originator so that they can be submitted in August 2026 when Curriculog re-opens.
